Oculus Go Discontinued- What it means for VZfit users?

As you may be aware, on June 23rd, 2020 Oculus announced their future plans for the Oculus platform and that they would be retiring the Oculus Go.  The key date for VZfit users in this announcement is December 4th 2020, which is the last day they will accept updates to existing Oculus Go apps.  We found out about this announcement at the same time as the rest of the community and have been discussing how it will affect our users. While we don’t have all of the details worked out yet we wanted to answer the questions we could.

We will start off by saying that our goal here is to do everything we can, within the Oculus store system, to support our Go users for as long as possible. The good news is that we have supported our VirZOOM Arcade users for a long time in similar situations and still have many happy riders over there, so we have some experience with this.

Our current plan is to provide feature updates to both Quest and Go users throughout the remainder of the year, with our last Go feature update being in November. This will allow us to ensure the build is as stable and bug free as possible before the cut-off date.

What we won’t be able to provide for Go users after December 4th, 2020

New Features Updates

We know there is a lot of love for the Go in our community, and we are sad to see Oculus discontinue it, but as wireless headsets mature and become more powerful we are excited to be able to take advantage of that power to make VZfit even better in the future.

As we get more information we will be sure to share it with all of you. As always thank you for your support and let us know if you have any questions.
